QSP från ES5PC:
ERAÜ Summer Camp at Tehumardi, Saaremaa isl.
25.06. 27.06.2004
Welcome to the 41st Estonian radioamateurs summer camp on Saaremaa island!
The traditional ERAÜ Summer Camp will be held on the last weekend of June, for the first time in the history of these camps it will take place on Saaremaa island. The site is located near Tehumardi, ~16km from Kuressaare towards Sõrve peninsula and is indicated on most detailed maps of Estonia. The way to the actual camping site will also be equipped with CQ-ES signs. The camp will be ready for guests from Thursdays (25th) afternoon, most ES-hams usually arrive on Friday afternoon-evening. As Saaremaa is a very popular place in summer and Midsummer holidays will usually bring big crowds to the island, we recommend you to book the ferry tickets in advance especially while going back to the continent on Sunday. Booking info is available at
www.laevakompanii.ee or make your phone call to +372 45 244 44.
The camp will be officially opened on Saturday (June 26) at 12.00 with the traditional ceremony of giving awards and trophies to hams for different contest achievements. Further, there will be various events and actions for amateurs as well as their family members, but you will find the exact agenda on the place.
The camp has a small kiosk with food and beverages available all through the weekend. Caravans and tents can supply themselves with electricity, but necessary power-cables must be taken along by visitors themselves (please count with at least ~50 m of cable).
The evening programme on Saturday will include a traditional funny auction of ham gear, live music and a special field sauna (youll have to try it!).
If you are visiting Saaremaa for the first time we suggest you to go also on a sightseeing tour around the island info about Saaremaa can be found e.g. at
www.saaremaa.ee.
There is no hotel-type accomodation available at the site, thus, if you plan to stay at more decent premises, we suggest you to book yourself accomodation well in advance there are many small motels and B&B farms nearby. More info can be found also at
www.saarehotell.ee or
www.mandjala.ee.
Looking forward to meeting you on Saaremaa!
